Fry's Icon Anaheim, CA

Exterior

Opened: 1996

Address: 3370 E. West Palma Ave

Theme: Space Shuttle

Inspired by Southern California's ties to the aerospace industry, the Anaheim store was designed around a Space Shuttle theme. Customers entering the store were greeted by a full-scale replica of a shuttle cockpit created by engineers at Rockwell International (a key player in NASA's Space Shuttle program). The cockpit replica featured glowing control panels and a simulated launch video. Inside, the theming continued with tributes to past NASA missions, as well as display areas designed to mimic a NASA launch pad. Some sections, including the audio/video demo area, were housed in a large room designed to resemble a space shuttle from the outside.
