Fry's Icon Manhattan Beach, CA

Exterior

Opened: 1992

Address: 3600 Sepulveda Blvd

Theme: Tahiti

Rumors suggest the Fry's founders drew inspiration from Disneyland's Enchanted Tiki Room when designing the Manhattan Beach store's "Tahiti" theme. True or not, the location's tropical decor arguably paid more of an homage to the the tiki culture of the 1950s than Tahiti itself. Key features included two large Moai statues, a koi pond, an indoor water feature, checkout counters made of "bamboo," and various tribal-style sculptures/artwork.
